This week, authorities of Secretaría de Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutricional-SESAN #SESAN held a working meeting with members of the Food Safety Commission of the Guatemalan Congress (Organismo Legislativo) to learn about our Healthy Start program in the Ixil region of Guatemala in partnership with #RotaryClub. Healthy Start is focused on reducing the incidence of chronic childhood malnutrition.

This session was held in order to address and build short, medium and long-term plans to implement this “mini Ixil crusade for nutrition.” The hope is to replicate this process in many more communities with the contribution of the government, civil society, and other cooperating agencies.

The VP of Programs in Central America, Joel led the meeting and will continue to engage in this incredible partnership with the Guatemalan officials! We are hopeful for successful and forward-moving progress with this project!

// Esta semana, las autoridades de la #SESAN sostuvieron reunión de trabajo con integrantes de la Comisión de Seguridad Alimentaria del Congreso Guatemala para conocer sobre nuestro programa Healthy Start en la región Ixil de Guatemala en alianza con Rotary Club. Healthy Start se centra en reducir la incidencia de desnutrición crónica infantil.

Esta sesión se realizó con el fin de abordar y construir planes a corto, mediano y largo plazo para implementar esta “mini cruzada ixil por la nutrición”.
