Ulises worked as a day laborer on a coffee farm, earning a modest salary of U$5.5
a month. To supplement his income, he planted basic grains, renting land for
US$95 annually. The family relied on the harvest of their single coffee
block—granted informally by Daysi’s parents—alongside 14 quintals of beans they
sold for $68 each. These efforts enabled them to purchase land by the roadside,
where they built their home and started a small neighborhood store with an initial
investment of $490. Ulises even acquired a motorcycle for added mobility.
Despite these strides, life was a delicate balance of hard work and limited
resources. Periodically, Ulises traveled to Costa Rica for three-month stints, using
his knowledge of vegetable farming to earn additional income. For five years, the
family has lived in El Carmen 2, building a foundation for their future, yet yearning
for more stability and growth.
Ulises first learned about the Agros project from neighbors. Initially skeptical, his curiosity and ambition led him to explore the opportunity. For Ulises, Agros represented a chance to expand his agricultural expertise and create a more secure future for his family.
“I had never been considered for any community project before,” he recalls. “I thought: it’s an opportunity, let’s give it a try! I’ve always liked challenges, taking the initiative, and not leaving work unfinished. I’m confident everything will go well.”
This newfound hope, coupled with his natural determination, motivated him to join Agros and embrace the chance for transformation.

FINANCIAL AND PERSONAL GROWTH FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY.

By adopting 100% of the basic production practices promoted by Agros, Ulises has strengthened his technical skills, improved his family’s economic well-being, and set a solid foundation for future growth.
“I like to encourage others to try because this works if you follow the instructions learned in the sessions,” he says. “I dedicate myself to my cultivation, and I’m disciplined because I want to see good results.”
Ulises balances his agricultural work with responsibilities at home and his role in the evangelical church, where he oversees construction efforts. For him, faith and hard work go hand in hand, providing the strength to keep moving forward.
rewrite his story.
The Rigby family is filled with dreams of a brighter tomorrow. Ulises envisions owning his land to expand his crops, improving and enlarging their family home, enhancing living conditions, and growing their neighborhood store.
These dreams are grounded in his faith and his family’s journey, particularly the miraculous recovery of their daughter, Deymerin, who was healed from bone cancer at the age of 2.
For Ulises, Agros is not just a project—it’s a catalyst for realizing these dreams and a testament to the power of resilience and hope.
“God has blessed us greatly,” he shares. “With faith, hard work, and the support of Agros, we’re building a future filled with possibilities.”
