I may be biased…. But when I watch our 2022 Tierras de Vida video, it is difficult to not be captivated by the stunning visuals… to see the hard work of each farmer and not be motivated to act… to hear the families’ stories and not be inspired…
Each year, we set out to capture the essence of life of an Agros farmer in new ways and angles that share the entire journey of a family. And each year I am so impressed at what the families share in their vulnerability.
For Agros families, their story of their journey out of poverty is not a glamorous, immediate change, but it’s certainly not something light to simply gloss over. The work I see the families put into their new shot at life and prosperity is one of blood, sweat, and tears.
As the Marketing and Communications Manager, I feel such an intense obligation to share these stories with the depth and care that they deserve, ensuring even the small details are shared. These families deserve it! At times, it feels like more than just a job because of the passion I have for sharing the mission and vision of Agros! I mean, how can I not when Agros has successfully worked with over 20,000 people and broken the cycle of poverty for hundreds of families.
When we plan for this video each year, the one that is shared at our Tierras de Vida fundraising event, it is planned with numerous voices. But, at the end of the day, it’s what happens in the filming where the story fully comes to life. We can plan as much as we want, but each Agros farmer has their own story and their own way of telling it, we just bring the equipment to capture it. And, as all best laid plans go, nothing ever goes as planned.
So when we hire our videographer team, interview the families ahead of time, and plan out our trip, there is truly only so much that we can really plan for. In the post-production process, our incredible creative team pulls together the words of these families and the visuals that are captured to share as much of a comprehensive story as possible.
I am proud to work with and for Agros families, and support them however I can on this journey. So in my role at Agros, I bring these stories to you, our donor, in hopes that you are as moved as I am. And in turn, I hope these families’ stories reignite a fire within you – a current donor OR freshly ignite a fire in you, if you’ve been on the fence about supporting Agros.
I see how this model works. I see the families who have paid off their loans and now own their land. I have met the children whose parents are working hard to give them a life they never had. So yes, I’m a little biased in that I get to see all this up close and personal. But I hope that I am doing a good job of sharing these stories with you, so that you too are inspired.
We just received the Silver Honor Shorty Impact Award in November 2023. And winning an award like this one in the category of ‘Fighting Poverty’ is an honor, the bigger honor and success to me is how many people will be impacted by watching the video. My measure of success is seeing how many people will be inspired to give and support families like Geovany and Zeneyda or Sandys and Xiomara.
Are you as inspired as I am every day?
So I offer up a challenge… would you respond to this video and give from your heart? Whatever it is your heart is telling you – trusting that with every dollar you give to Agros, your money truly makes a difference!!
