With each passing day, these families are taking courageous steps towards a future free from entrenched poverty.

But they are not alone. With your support, we are forging a new path—a path that leads towards a life of lasting prosperity for thousands more people.

CENTRAL AMERICA

One of every three rural inhabitants are landless farmers. They:
- Lack access to credit, training, and technology.
- Are vulnerable to severe weather and the environment, leading to crop losses.
- Live in extreme poverty, often experiencing hunger.
- Risk migration of young men, fragmenting families, and communities.

The Path to Prosperity maps the journey from extreme poverty to lasting prosperity a family follows when joining Agros programs and they reach both self-determination and sustainable economy performance. This is a proven, effective, and replicable solution that creates wealth. It WORKS!

  • 98% of Agros families have left poverty behind, becoming prosperous by accumulating an average of $25,000 to $30,000 in land and agribusiness value.
  • Own a dignified home.
  • Have daily access to healthy nutrition.
  • Have basic education and access to health care.
  • Own productive land and operate a profitable farm or business with access to competitive markets.

SETTING A NEW UNIFYING GOAL

Transforming 50,000 lives as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary.

In 2017, Agros embraced a Community Agribusiness Strategy, aimed to transform 10,000 lives of families in Central America in 10 years.  The agribusiness strategy was engineered to achieve within a decade what the organization accomplished in its first three.

Thanks to the support of faithful donors, Agros is “ahead of schedule” and we’ve doubled our goal by helping to transform 21,694 lives in just six years.

Given the exceptional developments of these past six years, it is imperative to undertake a strategic recalibration and to accelerate the transformation for more people´s lives in less time. Like never before, the Agros model is the only long-lasting solution to rural poverty. 

BUILDING AND SCALING UP ON OUR REGIONAL SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC ENGINE

With a robust infrastructure already in place, running successful programs, and a track record of impactful outcomes from previous strategies, Agros is poised to escalate its impact in less time, reaching more people, and amplifying its scope.

The Agros model delivers wholistic solutions to extreme poverty to overcome historical economic oppression.  The result?  Families are empowered to stay together and build a brighter future:

  • Economic Systems:Offer of a comprehensive toolkit for success: land access, agribusiness training, credit access, market access, infrastructure development, and support for entrepreneurial ventures. This empowers families to create sustainable livelihoods, preventing the need for migration, and fostering vibrant rural economies.
  • Social Systems:Provision of healthcare, sanitation, education, and dignified housing solutions, creating a foundation for healthy and stable families.
  • Leadership Systems:Empowerment of communities through leadership training, enabling them to advocate for their needs and drive positive change.

Agros mission goes beyond simply helping families cope with hardship. This is a mission to empower them to become resourceful, taking charge of their lives and charting their own course toward a brighter future. This transformation unfolds through two key stages:

  • Resourcefulness:Empowered by skills, knowledge, and creativity, families unlock their full potential to thrive and build a life of opportunity. By fostering resourcefulness, Agros equips individuals and communities to become architects of their own success.

Agros tackles rural poverty by building agency, the power individuals and communities must acquire to shape their own destinies.

  • More than 8000 acres of land transferred into ownership.
  • 85% of Agros families have repaid loans, obtained titles, and become owners.

In 2023, Agros introduced two pivotal initiatives aimed at expanding our impact and empowering communities: the La Bendicion Harvest of Hope Center (HHC) and the Women’s Entrepreneurial Fund (WEF

Agros celebrates its 40th anniversary with a 5-year fundraising campaign which aims to secure the $25 million needed to make its vision of accelerated transformation a reality.

Agros will continue investing in promoting and operating 4 Strategic Initiatives designed to address the critical challenges that affect the rural villages in the regions we operate.
